You said we must take up our cross,
if we would follow You,
and it’s true that we are burdened
and there is much to do;
but in the exigencies of the day
as mother, friend, and wife,
I see a seamless garment,
warm with Your life.
if we would follow You,
and it’s true that we are burdened
and there is much to do;
but in the exigencies of the day
as mother, friend, and wife,
I see a seamless garment,
warm with Your life.

I was thinking this morn as I often have, that the Father sent to Jesus a Simon in the hour of His need (and yes, in the hour of Simon's need as well, tho' not comparably..), and have often thought Jesus prayed a Simon, or many, for each of us. I find it hard to carry a splinter (what is a cross? I knew one only for a second in this life), unless I fool myself into thinking I am easing Him, somehow. Every other reason finds me whining about it.
Your poetry is beautiful. I am always heartened when people paint with words for us. Thank you.
