I love my iPod - it's my favorite way to multi-task - and Gabrielle posted this link over at contemplativehaven .

Someone invite her over here; she would bring something soothing to this conspiracy ;-)

Skype. Yes, my kids use that all the time. I'll have to let them teach me ;-)

FMN has scooped up Gabrielle.. surely she, too, is in.

Oh, FMN, a webcast?? I barely dare try audio again. The last time I conference chatted in voice, I thought my microphone was on Mute, double-checked it, triple-checked it, then belched with everything I had.. yes, right into the ears of 10 people who will never accuse me of being delicate. (I can blame audio "troubles" on the alligator, but what could I blame a video gaffe on?) I am so shy, I bring a folding screen to confession, just in case the priest only supports face-to-face reconciliation.
;-)
I'll look into Skype, tho'.

"No cheesecake, no in."

Somehow, it doesn't sit quite right with me, contemplatives in a "conspiracy", wolfing down cheesecake and swilling back espresso. Where is the transparency? Where is the asceticism? Where is the wine?

Ah, well. Would you accept a blacksheep bearing baguettes, Brie, and a good Bordeaux? If not, I will strive to find joy in the humiliation of rejection.

I have one more qualm, the "breathing together of contemplative spirits", particularly after Honora's last comment. Have you all had your flu shots?

- Oh, but a "conspiracy" is so much fun... true to the etymology of the word. But we won't be whispering all the time, so ...

- We are celebrating our charter, and acknowledging that everything that is not evil is good. Creation is good. I'm pretty sure that cheesecake and tiramasu and brie are God's ideas; that's why they're so heavenly ;-)
We won't be "wolfing them down" all the time, but it was, without a doubt, God's idea that people become family over food. Americans have lost this sacred art, but Italians have elevated it to the sublime, almost sacramental. So, I think that bonding over virtual Bordeaux is legitimate.

- If any men stumble in here (does anyone here know of some eremetical blogger, other than Abbot Joseph [he is too far above this ridiculous frolic], who would be interested? Contratimes perhaps), we will haul out some antipasto - prosciutto, provolone, a good salami - because I am NOT cooking! Beer is ok, if it is NOT out of a CAN ;-p

- Gabrielle, you are a welcome addition to our mirthful meditations here. Welcome, welcome.

I am interested in further exploring the prayer I posted, but it will be a busy week for me. Feel free to add your own reflections, and do not be afraid to take this off into regions spinning off far above our heads. We'll keep each other sane.

And now, FERVET OPUS.

Thank you for your warm welcome!

I'm not cooking either, and you'll all end up being thankful for that.

Now, could someone please go and get ccheryl? I have to go to work!

See what I miss when I behave? Is it ANY wonder that I don't?

Indeed, men are better off with ribs, however, we must consider the phrase: "There is neither Jew nor Greek: there is neither bond nor free: there is neither male nor female.." Not to take that out of context in regards to cheesecake and brie and baguettes and crab rangoons prevailing, but there are no real distinctions in this conspiracy.

Charles likes cheesecake.. Perhaps Contratimes does also.

:-) I'm going to go read the prayer again.
